This privacy notice has been compiled to help you understand why we ask you for your personal information when you use one of our websites and how we will use this information.

You can browse our websites without providing any personal information, however if you would like the enhanced website experience and thus make an enquiry to a course provider, or apply for a course, you will need to register with us.

In most of these instances we will ask for your name and email address only. You can then log in to the website and complete your profile if you wish. When applying for a course, for delivery and payment purposes, we will ask for your postal address as well.

How we use your information?

  1. When someone visits our website we use cookies to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.

    Cookies are used to help us:

    • Understand and save user's preferences for future personalised user experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and products in which you are most interested.
    • Keep track of advertisements.
    • Compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

  2. To send periodic emails about competitions, promotions, surveys and competitions we're conducting.

  3. When users have made an enquiry (i.e. asked a question) to a university through us, we may provide your details to the university so they can respond to you.

  4. When users download a prospectus from our site, your details are shared with the university whose prospectus you've downloaded so they can follow up with you if necessary and offer further assistance.

  5. If users apply to a university through us, your information is used by us to help you with your application.

  6. When you find a course you like on one of our websites, you can either request more details from the course provider or, if the option is available, apply the course directly.

  7. You can change your communication preference with us at any point, by logging in to our website or by following the instructions at the bottom of each email you receive from us. You can also update your contact details by logging in to our website. These contact details are used to respond to your enquiries or, put you in touch with the course provider you are interested in.

    When you find a course you like on one of our websites, you can either request more details from the course provider or, if the option is available, speak to us directly or request a call back.

Disclosure of personal information

In many circumstances we will not disclose personal data without your consent unless required by law.

We may share your personal information with organisations/agents as those companies may provide services to you over or in conjunction with our websites. To ensure your details are protected to the same level as in Australia, we have put agreements in place to ensure these companies comply with the Study Query Privacy Policy and the Data Protection Act 1998.

Another instance when we may share your personal information is when you make an enquiry to a course provider though our website - we may pass on your contact details to the course provider so that they can contact you directly.

On our website there are lots of links to course provider websites. This privacy notice does not cover these links. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on the other websites you visit.

Access to your personal Information

We would like to be as transparent as possible in terms of giving you access to your personal information. You find out if we hold any personal information by making a 'subject access request' under the Data Protection Act 1998. If we do hold information about you we will:

  • tell you why we are holding it;
  • tell you who it could be disclosed to; and
  • let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.

These website terms of use and our Privacy Policy as amended by us from time to time ("terms") govern your use of our website, studyquery.com and any and all services (including any mobile applications, community message boards ("forums") and when leaving a review of a course ("Course Reviews") that we make available on or through our website. By using our website, you are agreeing to these terms, whether you are just browsing (a "Visitor") or whether you are a registered user (a "Member"). Please stop using our website if you do not agree to these terms.

We may revise these terms at any time at our sole discretion. If we do, we will notify you on our home page.   1. Registration/Password
    1. Although portions of our website may be visited by any Visitor, you will need to register as a Member to be able to participate in or join the Community Areas and if you wish to submit Course Reviews. Registration on our website is free.

    2. To register as a member, you must either:

      • confirm that you are over 16 years of age; or

      • if you are less than 16 years of age, please see Section 3, below.

    3. You agree that any information you provide to us about yourself upon registration or at any other time will be true, accurate, up to date and complete. We reserve the right to terminate your membership and access to our website if we learn that you have provided false or misleading information.

    4. When you register to use our website, you will be asked to create a username and password. You agree not to divulge your password to any other person. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and will be fully responsible for all liabilities arising in connection with your password's use (or misuse), whether such use or misuse is with or without your knowledge or approval. If you suspect that someone else knows of or is using your password, you must notify us immediately by emailing us.

    6. We have the absolute discretion to cancel your username/password at any time if we suspect it is being used by an unauthorised person.

  2. Your use of our website
    1. For the purposes of these terms, "Content" refers to all data, text, logos, artwork, software, documents, images, photographs and other materials you may upload to or download from our website including information about yourself, messages posted in the Community Area, Course Reviews, information about certain courses.

    1. We have a software tool which monitors content on our website. While we hope that it removes the majority of inappropriate content, it is not 100% reliable - no software tool is. None of the views expressed in the content are the views of the Study Query team - we are just providing a platform. You acknowledge that all content is the responsibility of the person who posted, emailed or otherwise provided the content to our website. You acknowledge that by using the Service, you may be exposed to content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. We are not responsible in any way for any content - and if you post, email, upload or otherwise provide content, you are entirely responsible for it.

    2. However, we operate a "take down and notice" procedure. If you believe that any content is defamatory, profane, sexually or racially offensive or discriminating, harassing, threatening, obscene, pornographic, false, unreliable or misleading or otherwise objectionable, or infringes intellectual property or other legal rights please notify us immediately by contacting emailing info2studyquery.com and we will investigate each matter notified to us and will act in our sole discretion.
